A hockey practice erupts into war where being caught behind enemy lines presents a difficult challenge.
I was in an ice rink, where I was lacing up my brand new skates for some conditioning practice. I put the Nike Bauer ONE95 skates on, and tightened the wax laces that were on them. Once I got them on I got into a group with two other players and we were doing some skating drills, doing sharp turns, starts and stops, and such. The skates felt really good to me and I was very happy. The coach started to yell at me for not doing something right, so I started over doing the same turns and stops, noticing how well my feet felt. I then started doing some jumping, and then the whole dream shifted.
Instead of being in an ice rink with two teammates, I was now in a hilly battlefield in the back of a small humvee-like vehicle with a machine gun attached to it. One of my teammates was driving, and the other was in the passenger seat shooting his gun. It was night outside, and we were all in woodland camouflage uniforms. The opposing forces that we were fighting were an army of sorts that wore gray urban camouflage. We quickly drove past the enemy’s lines, and turned into them. There was a ton of soldiers lined up against some rock formations for cover, but once we drove past their lines, they were all in the open. We opened fire and took them all out before they even had a chance to shoot back.
We continued to drive past their lines, and entered a desolate village area which had a few houses spread out in the woods. We entered a rough patch and I got thrown from the vehicle, rolling into some shrubs. I grabbed my radio and tried to call for help, but it wouldn’t work. When I got up, I couldn’t see the vehicle anywhere. I started hearing noises coming from the brush, so I moved away from the road and went to what looked like an abandoned green house.
I made my way to the back of the green house, and I could see three figures slowly moving towards me. I got into the prone position by a corner and lay still. The first soldier walked into the area I was in, stealthily opening the broken screen door to get to the back of the green house. Once he stepped in, I took out a silenced pistol and took him out. Another guy walked in, looked down, and began to signal, but I took him out as well. Once he went down I got up and ran out back into the woods. I heard some faint voices yelling something, but I just ran and ran until I reached a residential home that looked like it was occupied.
The door was open, so I moved in and found a hiding spot next to a couch. I took out my radio to see if it would work, but no one was responding. I heard a sound coming from outside. A man, a woman, and a child were coming to the door, and it was then that I realized it was their home that I was hiding in. They walked in and saw me, but I raised my finger to my mouth to signal them to be quiet.
They followed my signal and went about their normal business in a casual manner. I went back into my spot and relaxed for a moment, but then the loud banging on the door ended that moment pretty quickly. I peeked out of a window and saw that there was a large group of enemy soldiers at the door. In front of about 20 soldiers was a man of higher rank in what looked to be some kind of officer’s uniform. I hid under the couch as the man who owned the house walked up to the door. Just as he was going to turn the knob, they smashed the door down and put guns in the man’s face. The guy didn’t say a word, yet immediately pointed in my direction.
I then took a deep breath and tried to lie as still as I could as they walked towards me. I felt an arm grab my leg and drag me from under the couch, but I still didn’t breathe and played dead. I opened my eye very slightly just to get a blurred visual. The officer walked over to me and bent down to look at me. Just as he took a knee, I grabbed my pistol, shot the officer in the head, and then emptied my gun at the soldiers so that they would scramble for cover while I ran.
I made my way through the house and jumped through a window to get out. I could hear everyone yelling and running after me, so I just kept on running through the woods. Gun fire echoed behind me, hitting the dirt and nearby trees that surrounded me. Looking ahead, I could see that I was running out of places to run. I was fast approaching the end of an extremely high cliff. With many soldiers behind me trying to kill me, I did the only thing I could do. I kept on running, and jumped off the cliff. It seemed like the ground below was miles away, and all I could hear was the air hitting my face. It was then that I fortunately noticed that I had a parachute on my back, so I pulled the cable and deployed it. I slowly soared down and forward, and as I got closer to ground, I could see that I was entering my allies’ camp. I touched down and did a roll, only to see my two friends in their humvee looking at me weird saying that they couldn’t find me. I separated myself from the parachute and then the journey was complete.
